Fashionisto

The cardigan was named after James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan, a British Army Major General who led the Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War. It is modelled (sic) after the knitted wool waistcoat that British officers supposedly wore during the war. The legend of the event and the fame that Brudenell achieved after the war led to the rise of the garment’s popularity. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardigan_(sweater)

Today marked an all-time low for me, when I stepped into an elevator at about the same time as a young man (student, no doubt) wearing essentially the same cardigan as me. Same color and everything.

As we rode from the 9th floor to the 3rd (my stop), I could see out of my periphery that he wanted to say something about it. Try to be charming or humorous; say something that would make me laugh. So, naturally, I sent him as many “Don’t you dare, don’t you dare, don’t you dare” mind vibes I could muster, and we instead rode the elevator together in silence, in our respective corners.

Now, I get it. My husband wears Crocs and I used to wear Mom jeans, so my fashion prowess is definitely arguable. But seriously, people. Boys in cardigans and skinny jeans.

His face just says it all.

It’s just not right.
