In the Bleak Midwinter

Last night, I emerged from the bedroom, walked down the hall, and stepped into the living room, where I found Husband in his underwear, lounging on the couch, watching television in a perfectly black, unlit room, with our ashen, dead Christmas tree looking forlorn and the piles of papers and bags and coupons and other random crap covering our countertop looking daunting.

It was a bleak weekend in our home.
